Season of Longing

By: Kyler Stinson, Staff Writer

My heart sinks as the days shorten.

My soul yearns for the sunshine.

The long days out on the river.

Without a care in the world.

Without a worry.

The alpine peaks beckon me.

Yearning for my peace.

Yearly, the world lights up.

Then, after to go dormant for six more months.

The wait is arduous.

The wait is long.

The wait is taxing.

No matter, as the wait is worth its weight.

Waiting is essential.

Without the wait.

The alpine peaks would grow weary from constantly calling.

The trout would get bored from playing in the sunshine.

The sun's rays would wane.

Perseverance makes you grateful.

Fleeting days of summer make for a rapturous heart.
