Revived in 2024, we aspire to bring the writing of Cody High School students to the spotlight.

A New Era for CHS Writing

The CHS Equus, a strictly Journalism and newspaper print class, was an award-winning program for decades at Cody High School. Spearheaded in 19XX by Mike Riley and later refined by Vin Cappiello, the Equus was the recipient of 22 All-State Newspaper Awards, seven People’s Choice Awards, 11 All-State Literary Magazine Awards, and dozens of individual member awards at state and national levels. In 2020, CHS teacher Brooke Davidson revived the program as a creative writing class, this time under a new name: Bonfire.

Now, under the direction of Alec Giacoletto, Bonfire has become a student-run, online and print publication including journalism, short stories, poetry, and even a podcast.
