Christmas Joy

By: Megan Pederson, Poetry Editor

Snow is softly blanketing the ground,

the perfect snow for children to build a snowman with on Christmas day.

Entire towns are decorated with stunning warm lights,

The world is at peace.

After hanging stockings above the hearth, and topping the tree with an angel,

children snuggle up in their warm beds.

They sleep anxiously, wondering if they received coal or gifts.

Saint Nick is on his way, his bells softly jingling in the distance,

his sleigh overflowing with presents to deliver to children all over the world

Each present is wrapped in red, and tied with a gorgeous ribbon.

His elves prepare to come home after their month away watching children,

they delivered reports on who was naughty and who was nice,

Rudolph leads the way back to the North Pole after another successful Christmas Eve,

already preparing for next Christmas.
