Illuminated, then the world turns dark

Crack! The world shutters in the storm

Words jump out “Goodbye…”

Floorboards creak under the weight

Rain pours down on a metal roof

Light shows more

“I am leaving you”

Heavy breath

Shaking hands reach for the lamp

Click. Light illuminates the room

A note was made to give heartbreak

Leaving the life they had made 

For someone new.
