All Hallows Eve

By: Megan Pederson, Poetry Editor

Jack-o-lanterns recline on every porch;

Lit up by night, and virtually invisible by day.

The once poignant symbol of All Hallows Eve is now insignificant.

Children pass by without a thought,

Walking to trunk-or-treats,

As the old traditions fade away to die.

Older children overlook the day as a whole,

While young adults grasp at any youth they have left;

Attending parties, wearing frilly costumes, and decorating.

Once the most beautiful holiday fades into nothingness.
