#1 Broncs Take On #2 Tigers
By: Noah Capelli
Saturday was the Bronc soccer team’s biggest game of the season thus far, as they played host to the Lander Valley Tigers. It was a number one vs number two matchup, and the Broncs were looking for their eighth consecutive win. Cody started fast with a goal just one minute and twenty seconds into the game, scored by defenseman Owen Petersen. For most of the half the score stayed at 1-0, but during the final minutes, Carter Thompson netted the team's second goal. With thirty seconds left in the half, Petersen scored his second goal of the game, which is rare to see as a defenseman.
The Broncs started the second half with a goal by freshman Diego Morales to make the score 4-0. Carter Thompson, Romain Ferlund, and Carter Gail also all scored in the second half, and when the final whistle blew, the Broncs had seven total goals. Jackson Asay had another great game in net, as he once again allowed zero goals. Ultimately, the Broncs defeated the number two ranked Tigers 7-0. It was Cody’s biggest win this season, and they are making a serious push to win their second consecutive state championship. Their final home game will be May 16, vs their rival, Powell.
