Living in the Wrong Era

By: Danielle Foote, Staff Writer

Time After Time blasts from an old record player

Girls are running around with poofy ponytails sitting on top of their heads

Oversized crewnecks with boy band graphics printed on them

Buckets of eye shadow are painted onto their eyes

I have always longed to live in this era of time

Back when gas was a crisp 79 cents

Or a pair of bell buttons was only a few dollars

Every diner you walked into was filled with exciting colors

Waitresses taking orders on shoes with wheels as transportation

Back when screen time wasn’t a thing

No screens distracting you from the present

Looking up someones number in a two-inch-thick phone book

Times were so much simpler

I am living in the wrong era
